We love to help kids get interested in music! Our classes are
designed to accommodate all levels. Students who already take piano
outside of Day Camp are encouraged to bring their books to work on.
Each student has a separate digital piano with a separate ear-phone
jack. For day camp, we usually start students on basic songs like “Mary
Had a Little Lamb” and “Row-Row-Row Your Boat”. When
students are ready and willing, there are books we recommend to start
with. We introduce note-reading and rhythm in all our Day Camp music
classes! This class fills up first and space is limited! Sign up early
if you'd like this class! Please register early
if you want this class - it is the first to fill up!
Guitar:

Day Camp students start by learning “Smoke on the Water”.
From there, we progress to “Hot Cross Buns”, “Twinkle,
Twinkle Little Star” and “Happy Birthday”. More advanced
students are encouraged to bring their music books or to try some of
the more challenging music selections we have available. All guitars
are provided! This class fills quickly! Sign up early to ensure a spot! Please
register early if you want this class - it is the second to fill up!

and snack at San Diego Music Studio's Day Camp! Our menu includes home-made
Macaroni and Cheese, Buttered Pasta Americano, Vegitarian Spaghetti,
Zitti Alfredo and Sandwich Days on Tuesdays and Thursday. Fruits are
served with every snack and salad with ranch dressing is served with
most lunches. Snacks also include healthy choices like apples and cheese,
carrot sticks, bananas, graham crackers as well as traditional favorites
like fishy crackers and cheese-itz. Our lunches have become so popular
this camp that most students sign up for it.
Academic Chess:

If you’re a grown-up whose been beaten at chess
by an eight year old (yes . . . this is from a personal experience),
Academic Chess is where they can learn all those cool moves to check-mate
you faster than you can say “Bobby Fischer”. Beginning
students start with the basics by identifying pieces and learning basic
moves. More advanced students learn how to notate their chess moves
and pin their opponent quickly and effectively.
Children will learn the strategies that have kept chess a popular
game for hundreds of years. Through lessons, workbooks, and mini-tournaments,
kids are given the tools they need to become "Chessmonsters",
the highest level an Academic Chess student can achieve. Lessons are
taught dynamically with analogies and stories to help them remember
the various rules and techniques. The methods are age and level sensitive.

Dance:

Our Dance Program focuses on fundamental dance skills and dance combinations
that are kid friendly and fun to perform! Students learn basic technic
with plie, tendu, spotting, foot co-ordination (grape-vine, cross-touch,
kick-ball-change) and across the floor with leaps, jumps and turns.
Dance combinations are set to kid-friendly music from recent television
and movies for children.
Academic Workbooks:

This summer, San Diego Music Studio will be adding Academic Workbooks
to it's curriculum. Students bring workbooks in math, reading and writing
to camp. Our staff helps guide them through their workbooks, helping
students keep up with their academics during the summer months. Workbooks
are available at most department stores such as Wal Mart and Target.
They can also be found at A+ Teaching Supply located at the Ralph's
shopping center off Twin Oaks Valley Rd.
